Statewide Forest Services have the plantation management sector covered.
Beginning from forest practice plans to value adding to the standing maturing plantation we work in all parts of
Tasmania and South Australia. We utilise a range of purpose built machinery and a task orientated labour force of
80 hardworking people.
We contract our plantation management skills to all silvicultural companies
and have operational supervisors dedicated to these customers on the contract
and work operations that Statewide Forest Services are undertaking.
Our operational supervisors are formally trained in the Forest Practices Code and accompanying legislations.
In addition we have Fire Management (sector commander) training; to protect the investments we are producing.

- We are slowly building our silviculture labour force and upskilling is a constant process.
Statewide Forest Services now employs 80 people, 60 of whom are enrolled in a Certificate III in Forest Growing and Management.
Units covered in this training course reflect our customers needs. -
Professional development for our managers is also ongoing. They often complete
short courses in computer skills for administrative duties through to
industry specific skills such as becoming 1080 assessment officers. Business
management and human resource skills are being upgraded through diploma
courses.
As mentioned in the introduction we always aim to be at the forefront of technological usage in the workplace. We are open to training needs today for opportunities into the future.
- The Company
Statewide Forest Services Pty Ltd. was founded in 1995 by Mathew Burns, who is the managing director. We now have more than ten years in the forestry industry as a company. The Burns family and many of the employees have a lifetime of forest management experience, spanning generations.
Mathew's grandfather, Reg Burns worked in the forest industry for many years and his father Barry Burns still works for Norske Skog.
